The Freddie Gray Mystery
Company The Baltimore Sun
Completed April 2015
In the wake of Freddie Gray's tragic death, there was an urgent need to piece together the narrative of his arrest. We released this timeline - driven by visceral images of Baltimore - of Gray's known experiences that fateful April day, less than one week after he died and before the violent riots that invoked a citywide curfew.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Compared to many projects, this required truly rapid development. Driven by its breaking-news nature, the project was taken from conception to completion in two days. It was a thrilling challenge to work on such a high profile story and to help keep Baltimore - and the rest of the world - informed on what we know happened to Freddie Gray.
MY ROLE
I was the sole developer on this project and co-designer with one other teammate. I wanted to create a unique timeline experience, so I tested and implemented a fullscreen CSS3 transform-powered vertical slider for larger screen sizes. I built this project rapidly using my usual arsenal: Jade & Sass.
BY THE NUMBERS
The project has 33,000+ views (1 per visit, not per slide).
