Once the mercury begins to drop, everyone starts the holiday season's most ancient of traditions: buying gifts. The Sun helped consumers navigate these troubling waters with a guide composed of more than 170 ideas, including dozens of unique gifts made locally in Baltimore.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
While The Sun has included its traditional print gift guide online before, we wanted to expand the 2014 edition with functionality that truly enhanced the user's experience. We focused on filtering - both by one of more than a dozen categories and by price range - and a visual interface for an enjoyable browsing experience.
MY ROLE
I was the sole developer on this project, working with one other teammate who did majority of the design. I used David DeSandro's powerful and elegant isotope.js to handle the filtering and masonry layout of items loaded via JSON. The subtle hover and lightbox animations were all implemented using CSS3 transitions.
